Welcome to one of the most fun bars in Bangkok!  We hope you'll visit soon and come back often!

New Square One is in the location in Washington Square longest occupied by a bar.  In 1999, the owner, Taffy, and his Thai wife, Ray, bought the bar, which was then named, simply, "Square One."  After experimenting with several different formats, in early 2001 Taffy and Ray spent some serious money remodeling the interior and front extensively, making it into one of the most physically comfortable bars around, with your choice of sofa or bar-stool seating.  They kept the dart board and added a pool table, the latter of which has proven extremely popular.  [Click on any picture to see a larger version of it.]

Taffy and Ray bring extensive experience to the place.  Ray worked as a waitress in a now-closed barbeque restaurant here in Bangkok for several years before she met and married Taffy.  After they married, they went to Taffy's adopted homeland of Scotland for over a year and operated a hugely successful Thai restaurant.

New Square One Pub has become a favorite watering hole with regulars of Washington Square -- called "Squaronians" -- other resident expatriates, and regular visitors to the area, particularly airline crews and American military, some of both of whom stay in the nearby Queen's Park Hotel during their regular visits.

The staff here are all nice, too, and enjoy sanuk -- "fun."  Some of these gals can play pool WELL, so don't be surprised if you lose a round or two!
